Saturna Capital’s Monem Salam Featured on InvestmentNews’ “In the Nasdaq”

News Article

Monem Salam, executive vice president and portfolio manager at Saturna Capital, was recently featured on InvestmentNews’ “In the Nasdaq” video series to discuss the benefits of halal investing and his outlook for international markets. In his conversation with anchor Gregg Greenberg, Monem outlined how Islamic investing principles screen out businesses involved in activities such as conventional banking, alcohol, gambling, and insurance, and apply financial ratio screens to limit excessive debt and interest-based income.

Monem explained that this disciplined, values-based approach seeks to align portfolios with investors’ faith while still pursuing competitive long-term returns and broad global diversification. He also highlighted the planned launch of halal exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that are expected to list on Nasdaq, designed to mirror existing Saturna Capital managed strategies and offer advisors additional tools to implement values-aligned portfolios for their clients.
