News Article

Bellingham, WA, July 24, 2024 – Dan Kim, CFA®, Director of Research & Portfolio Manager for Saturna Capital, was recently featured in a piece by personal finance publication GOBankingRates. The article, “I’m an Economist: Why I’m Optimistic No Matter Who Becomes President,” discusses the impact the upcoming election will — or won’t — have on the American economy.

Dan Kim is one of two economists featured in the article and provides insights about what expect come November and beyond. “We are entering an economic regime where global growth is likely to remain sluggish and the cost of capital elevated,” Dan explained regarding the limited impact the election may have on the economy. “While inflation and interest rates remain important, their impact is expected to diminish over the next several quarters as the significant tail risks associated with them have been largely mitigated.”

Other topics discussed include the influence of the Federal Reserve on the economy and what a new administration could mean for trade policies.
