Saturna Director of Islamic Investing Elected Chairman of Islamic Shura Council SoCal
January 24, 2020 – Directors of the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California have elected Owaiz Dadabhoy as their chairman. He takes over the role from outgoing chairman Dr. Ahmed Soboh. The community based nonprofit Shura Council represents 79 member organizations in the Los Angeles area and throughout Southern California, including mosques, clinics, education centers, and charities that serve the Muslim community and society at large.
“It is my honor to serve the community in any way that I can, and I’m looking forward to meeting with each of the Shura Council’s member organizations and their communities throughout Southern California.” said Dadabhoy. “I am also excited for the opportunity to apply my background in financial services to assist the Shura Council and its members to move towards financial self-sufficiency.”
Dadabhoy is Saturna Capital’s Director of Islamic Investing and Islamic Investment Group Manager. He represents the Amana Mutual Funds at numerous Amana-sponsored community events and conferences throughout Southern California and across the US, educating investors on a variety of financial topics. Saturna Capital is adviser to the Amana Funds, the first and largest halal mutual fund family in the US serving Muslim investors.
Owaiz Dadabhoy joined Saturna Capital in 2008. He was raised in Southern California and earned a BA in Business Administration from California State University at Fullerton. He is active in charitable activities and a co-founder of UPLIFT Charitable Corporation.
