October 3, 2019 - Jane Carten, MBA, president of Saturna Capital Corporation, has been elected to the Board of Governors of the Investment Company Institute, the leading global association representing regulated funds. As a member of the board of governors, Carten will help set policy and oversee the organization’s activities. She will also serve on the Planning Committee for the ICI’s annual General Membership Meeting. ICI members include mutual funds, closed-end funds, exchange-traded funds, and unit investment trusts in the US, and similar funds offered worldwide. ICI’s US members manage assets exceeding $23 trillion.

The ICI represents investment managers globally. Jane Carten joined Saturna Capital in June 1997. She is portfolio manager of the Saturna Sustainable Equity Fund. In addition to overseeing Saturna’s daily operations, she directs Saturna’s internal and external technology and marketing activities, Saturna’s continuing education program, and its philanthropic efforts. She is active in the Bellingham Bay Rotary and is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization. She is a founder and former director of the nonprofit OpenAccess Internet Services and a Bellingham Sister Cities member and contributor.
