Saturna Capital Named To Two "Fastest-Growing" Lists | Saturna Capital

Lands On Inc. Magazine List For Fourth Year

Inc. 5000

Bellingham, WA (October 12, 2012)Saturna Capital Corporation, investment manager of the no-load Amana and Sextant Fund families and the Idaho Tax-Exempt Fund, continues a prolonged growth spurt, having landed on two prestigious "fastest-growing" lists in 2012. The firm has been named to Inc. magazine's annual Inc. 5000 list, which ranks America's fastest-growing private companies, and the list of Washington state's 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies, compiled annually by the Seattle-based Puget Sound Business Journal.

This marks the fourth consecutive year Saturna has been recognized by Inc. magazine, ranking 1765 on this year's list with a three-year sales growth rate of 161%. Saturna debuted on the exclusive Inc. 500 list in 2009 with a rank of 408, and followed with rankings of 847 in 2010, and 1177 in 2011.

Puget Sound Fastest Growing Companies

Saturna earned the rank of 47 on the Puget Sound Business Journal's 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies List, which was announced October 11. The list recognizes strong year-over-year revenue growth among Washington state's privately held companies.

Jane Carten, president and CEO of Saturna Capital, attributes the firm's ability to thrive in a sluggish economic environment to the long-term success of its conservative, research-intensive investment process, an approach that found increasing appeal among skittish investors after the financial crisis.

"Our business strategy follows the same principles we use to guide our investments in that we steadily diversify into areas where we find value," she said.

"Saturna's research and investment management office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for example, has definitely opened doors for us, and we plan to increase our presence there," Carten added. "As we expand our institutional investment management services in the U.S. and globally, we are optimistic about next year as well."
