Saturna Capital earned Inc. magazine’s exclusive designation of “Five-Time Honoree” by ranking on the annual Inc. 500|5000 list of America’s fastest-growing companies for the fifth consecutive year in 2013.

Saturna was named "Best Islamic Fund Manager" by Failaka Advisors in 2005 (Worldwide), 2006 (US), and 2007 (US).

Since 2008, Saturna has won 44 STAR Awards from the Investment Management Education Alliance (IMEA), including the 2011 Community Investment Award, which recognizes mutual fund companies who demonstrate exemplary contributions to the well-being of their communities. The IMEA is a national fund industry trade organization dedicated to informing and educating the investing public about mutual funds.

In 2019, Saturna's Ski to Sea team, Past Performance Is No Guarantee, placed 2nd in the Corporate Division (41st overall among 419 teams). Ski to Sea is a local relay race in Whatcom County from the top of Mt. Baker to Fairhaven Park) featuring multiple legs including downhill ski, cross country ski, road run, road bike, canoe, cyclocross, and sea kayak.

In 2019, Saturna's trivia team, the Know Loads, won the Whatcom Literacy Council's Annual Trivia Bee for the 2nd year in a row.

Both Amana Income Fund and Amana Growth Fund have earned numerous Lipper and Failaka Awards.

 

Nick Kaiser

Chairman and founder Nick Kaiser has been named to Morningstar's Ultimate Stockpicker's list 10 years running (2010 through 2019); he has twice been nominated for Morningstar's Domestic Stock Portfolio Manager of the Year (2006 & 2008) and twice been named to Barron's Top 100 Portfolio Managers (2001 & 2002). Mr. Kaiser was Northwest Business Monthly's Business Person of the Year in 2006, and received Whatcom Business Alliance's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013. In 2011 he was a finalist for Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.

Jane Carten

President and CEO Jane Carten received the Young Alumna of The Year in 2013 from Western Washington University's Western Alumni Association. In 2010, she was named to Insitutional Investor Magazine's Rising Stars of Mutual Funds.

Monem Salam

Executive vice president Monem Salam was named to Institutional Investor Magazine's 20 Rising Stars of Mutual Funds in 2008.

The Inc. 500|5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing the previous three years. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31 at least three years before end of the period year being ranked. They had to be US-based, privately held, for profit, and independent — not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies — as of December 31 of the year being ranked. Failaka Advisors is an international research and consulting firm in the field of Islamic investing. "Best Islamic Fund Manager" fund companies must have been duly nominated by fully and accurately completing the required nomination form, established for over 5-years as a Shariah compliant fund manager, provided a consistent and long-term return relative to prevailing market conditions, manage more than one Shariah compliant fund, and surpassed the benchmark for its equity fund(s) in the year for which the award is given. In the case of a tie, credence is given to, the higher returning fund/family of funds, the better relative performance as compared to the relevant benchmark, asset growth over the past year, any notable achievement or advancement in the field of Islamic compliant asset management.

The Mutual Fund Education Alliance (MFEA) is a national trade association dedicated to strengthening ways the investment management industry serves investors and advisors. Since 1971, the MFEA has been dedicated to informing and educating the investing public about how they can use mutual funds to achieve important lifetime goals. MFEA members are among the leaders in the industry, offering a variety of financial services to investors. This strong industry alliance is well recognized for its leadership in investor education, and sponsors the Mutual Fund Investor’s Center as a key investment resource. As part of its mission to serve investors, the MFEA sponsors an awards program, the STAR Awards, which is designed to recognize the highest standards of excellence in communications and education efforts among mutual fund companies. The Whatcom Business Alliance (WBA) is a non-partisan, non-profit organization created and operating solely on private funding. The mission of the WBA is to support and celebrate a positive business environment in Whatcom County, and provide a vast communications network to address issues concerning businesses. Northwest Business Monthly was a regional magazine dedicated to informing and inspiring the business decision makers throughout Northwest Washington and was published until 2012 by Pulse Publications. Business Person of the Year winners were selected by editorial staff from nominations by readers of the magazine.
