Nicholas Kaiser, Chairman, was born in Bellingham in 1946. Mr. Kaiser graduated from Yale College, with a degree in economics and obtained his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1968, with dual majors in International Economics and Finance. Mr. Kaiser purchased control of Unified Management Corporation (Indianapolis) in 1976, and built it into a mid-sized investment management and brokerage firm. After selling Unified to a major insurance company, he returned to Bellingham and founded Saturna Capital in 1989.
Mr. Kaiser and his children control Saturna Capital through its voting stock. A Chartered Financial Analyst®, he is Saturna's global investment strategist. He serves Saturna's mutual funds as trustee, president, and equity portfolio manager.
Mr. Kaiser's industry activities include service with the Investment Company Institute (past Governor), CFA Institute (past chapter president), Financial Planning Association (past chapter president), and No-Load Mutual Fund Association (past national president). He currently serves on the volunteer boards of St. Paul's Academy, Mt. Baker Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Mt. Baker Foundation, and Shawnigan Lake School. He supports a range of non-profit activities, such as the Kaiser Professorship in International Business at Western Washington University. A commercial pilot (retired), ocean sailor, and avid skier, he reads and travels extensively.
Mr. Kaiser has been named to Morningstar's Ultimate Stockpicker's list three years running (2010, 2011, and 2012); he has twice been nominated for Morningstar's Domestic Stock Portfolio Manager of the Year (2006 & 2008) and twice been named to Barron's Top 100 Portfolio Managers (2001 & 2002). Mr. Kaiser was Northwest Business Monthly's Business Person of the Year in 2006, and received Whatcom Business Alliance's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.

Robin Foote is a managing director of Novantas, a New York City based management consulting firm focused on banking.
Previously, Robin was Group Executive Vice President and Head of Relationship Marketing at Bank of America (San Francisco). Before joining Bank of America, Robin worked in senior capacities at First Chicago Retail Bank, where she managed several divisions including those serving affluent Chicagoans, consumer loans, local credit cards, mortgages and housing rehabilitation.
Robin is a broadly experienced bank executive, having led a variety of initiatives to accelerate revenue growth and reduce operating expense, the combination of which contributed more than $1 billion in recurring bottom-line benefits over the course of her banking career.
Robin graduated magna cum laude from Smith College in 1967 and with High Distinction from the Harvard Business School in 1969.
She is an advisory director of privately-held Diacor, Inc. She is a former director of CFSBdirect (now E*Trade) and chaired its Audit and Compensation Committees while it had public ownership. She currently serves on the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation board, and is that organization’s treasurer. Dividing her time between residences in Bellingham WA and San Francisco CA, she is an avid mountain climber and reader who also enjoys music and the arts.
Jane Carten, President and Director, joined Saturna Capital in June 1997. Ms. Carten graduated from Western Washington University with an MBA and undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Business. As President, Jane oversees Saturna's daily operations and directs Saturna's internal and external information systems, managing the technology and marketing activities. She also directs Saturna’s continuing education program and the philanthropic efforts of the firm. Ms. Carten is active in the Bellingham Bay Rotary and is a member of the Young Presidents' Organization; she is a former member of the Whatcom Museum Children's Advisory Board. She is a founder and former director of the nonprofit OpenAccess Internet Services and is a Bellingham Sister Cities member and contributor. She enjoys her family, snow-boarding, and wildlife, as well as international travel and fine and theatre arts.

Chris Fankhauser, Chief Operations Officer, is a 1995 graduate in Political Science from Western Washington University. His adaptability and problem solving skills were developed in travel industry jobs before joining Saturna Capital in December 1996. Starting as a part-time system operator, Mr. Fankhauser is now responsible for the daily operation of investor and brokerage services as well as fund accounting. His favorite leisure activities are running, skiing, cooking and reading.

Craig Churman, Vice President, Product Development, joined Saturna in August 2011. He is a graduate of West Virginia University, with a BS in Business Administration, and has an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Churman earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® Designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies in 2013. Prior to Saturna, he spent ten years in sales and product development at PNC Global Investment Services, transitioning to Bank of New York Mellon when it acquired PNC GIS in July 2010. With over thirty years of experience in financial services, Mr. Churman has held positions in client services, product development, mergers and acquisitions, and finance, at firms such as Federated Investors, BISYS, and Invesmart. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Mr. Churman is the father of two, an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, and an active supporter of mission work, particularly Youth With A Mission, an international volunteer organization.
Thomas Quinn joined Saturna Trust Company in March 2015.
He graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Secondary Education English. Mr Quinn has met the requirements for the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers of the American Bankers Association. In addition, he has earned the Chartered Life Underwriter and Registered Employee Benefit Consultant Designations from The American College of Financial Services.
After a career as a high school English teacher, Mr. Quinn entered the financial services business in 1987. In the span of his career, he has filled many roles: benefit consultant, independent financial advisor, and regional vice president for financial firms. He was an agency manager for both New England Financial and Mass Mutual.
In 2005, he joined Wells Fargo to be a Wealth Insurance Specialist for the Wealth Management Group and The Private Bank. In this role, Mr. Quinn partnered with bankers, trust officers, and wealth managers to provide guidance and solutions for estate planning, trust funding, wealth transfer, and business succession.
Mr. Quinn is married with two children. He is an avid tennis player. In addition, he enjoys the performing arts, movies, and smooth jazz.

Owaiz M. Dadabhoy, Director of Islamic Investing & Islamic Investment Group Manager, joined Saturna Capital in August of 2008. Raised in Southern California, he earned a BA in Business Administration from California State University at Fullerton. Mr. Dadabhoy spent over 15 years at Wells Fargo and was most recently a District Manager in Long Beach. Prior to that, he was Senior Sales Director for Wells Fargo’s Wealth Management group in Los Angeles where he managed six Sales Directors and led a team of over 200 licensed bankers. Mr. Dadabhoy is active with charitable and community activities, co-founding the UPLIFT Charitable Corporation in 2006. He is married with two children and enjoys spending time with his family in various outdoor activities.

Jim Gibson, Chief Financial Officer, is a Certified Public Accountant and joined Saturna in April 2007. Mr. Gibson graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (Magna Cum Laude, 1981). He was born in California in 1959, and moved to Washington in 1995. Mr. Gibson began his career in public accounting at Arthur Andersen, then spent several years in a regional public accounting firm. He has over 15 years experience as Controller, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at different multi-national companies, both public and privately owned, based in Western Washington. He serves on the Board of Directors of Whatcom Tesseract Running Club, a non-profit organization that provides youth in our community with coaching and opportunities to compete in races. Mr. Gibson also sits on the Executive Committee of his church's Pastoral Council, and is an Officer in Squalicum High School's Track & Field and Cross Country Parent Athletic and Activities Committee. His favorite activities include spending time with his wife and three children, boating, fishing and attending his children's various and numerous athletic events.

Tom Phillips, Chief Legal Officer, joined Saturna in December 2014. He graduated cum laude from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Government Administration, and graduated magna cum laude from Temple University School of Law. Prior to joining Saturna, Mr. Phillips was a Partner and Deputy General Counsel of Lord, Abbett & Co. LLC, a privately held asset management firm, where he was responsible for overseeing the legal support for a fund family with over $100 billion in assets. Mr. Phillips began his legal career as an associate attorney in the investment management practice group of Stradley Ronon Stevens and Young, LLP, and later joined the law firm of Morgan Lewis & Bockius, LLP. Mr. Phillips has advised registered investment companies and their investment managers and principal underwriters marketing shares through various distribution channels. He also has provided legal counsel to investment company independent directors/trustees regarding their fiduciary duties and fund governance matters. In addition, he has advised hedge fund sponsors and institutional investors. Throughout his legal career, Mr. Phillips has advised clients on complex matters related to the registration, regulation, and operation of investment companies, provided counsel to various clients regarding regulatory and compliance matters, and assisted clients with business transactions such as fund and adviser restructurings, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions. Prior to his legal career, Mr. Phillips served as a commissioned officer in the US Army, including serving as the Military Intelligence Commander for the 1st Special Forces Group. Mr. Phillips and his wife, Lisa, are the proud parents of their two daughters and enjoy the all of the advantages of living in the Pacific Northwest.

Michael Lewis, Chief Compliance Officer, joined Saturna Capital in September 2012. A life-long resident of the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Lewis earned a degree in Business Administration with concentrations in accounting and finance from the University of Washington. He serves as the compliance officer for Saturna Capital, the Amana Mutual Funds Trust, and the Saturna Investment Trust. Prior to Saturna, Mr. Lewis was the District Director for FINRA's Seattle office. He has over twenty-five years experience in the securities industry and was a frequent speaker and panelist on compliance and regulatory issues at industry conferences. His favorite activity away from the office is spending time with his wife and three children boating, camping, or hiking.

Jacob Stewart, Compliance Officer, joined Saturna Capital in November 2007. He moved to Bellingham from Texas, where he obtained a BA in English Literature from Schreiner University in 2005. Jacob's work focuses on 1940 Act valuation issues, Bank Secrecy Act anti-money laundering compliance, and designing/implementing forensic testing regimes. In his spare time, he enjoys mountaineering, backcountry skiing, and racing different kinds of bicycles.

Trust Operations Manager
Reid Kitagawa, Trust Operations Manager, joined Saturna Capital in May 2013. Reid moved to Bellingham in 2006 to attend Western Washington University. In 2010, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing. His interests include fitness, cars, and attending sporting events.
