Saturna Capital Hires 3 New Managers
Bellingham, WA (May 31, 2007) — Saturna Capital, investment adviser to mutual funds and private accounts, announces three new additions to its staff of 30 full time employees.
Jim Gibson, Chief Financial Officer
Saturna recently hired Jim Gibson as their new Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Gibson will be responsible for the financial activities of Saturna Capital Corporation and its subsidiary, Saturna Brokerage Services. Mr. Gibson will work closely with staff members to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information as well as performing internal audits, overseeing payroll, receivables, payables, tax planning and assisting with regulatory compliance.

Mr. Gibson's experience includes several years in public accounting, a controllership in a large construction subcontractor, and most recently being the Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Financial Officer of a multi-national service and manufacturing company based in Bellingham, WA.
Chris Norman, Systems Analyst
Saturna also recently hired Chris Norman as their new Systems Analyst. Mr. Norman will be responsible for database programming and operations, web programming and business logic analysis and design. Mr. Norman will also be responsible for servicing clients of Saturna’s financial database system, Neptune.
"Chris brings a wealth of programming experience to Saturna," said Jane Carten, Chief In-Forming Officer. "He’ll help us roll out new technologies as well as maintain robust support for proprietary systems. Our focus on providing the best possible customer service relies on delivering accurate and timely information. Chris can help us achieve that end through our in-house interfaces as well as developing improvements to our online experience."
Mr. Norman’s previous experience includes developing enterprise level database applications and creating intuitive user interfaces using multiple computer languages. He comes to Saturna most recently from a Texas-based global petroleum development company where he developed software to track production and inventory.
Peter Nielsen, Senior Investment Analyst
Saturna’s third and most recent addition is Peter Nielsen, who will serve as Senior Investment Analyst. Mr. Nielsen will develop analyses of various markets and securities, report to the portfolio managers and lead the research department.
"Peter’s knowledge of market analysis and monitoring the performance of investments will enhance the integrity of our research department in immeasurable ways," said Kaiser. "Our reputation as an Investment Adviser depends upon the quality of our investment selections, which in turn, depends upon the quality of our research."
Previously, Mr. Nielsen worked as an assistant portfolio manager and a finance manager for investment management firms in British Columbia. Mr. Nielsen is Chartered Financial Analyst, has an MBA in Finance and is a member of the University of Victoria Chapter of Toastmasters.
