A Business Continuity Plan is required to ensure that essential functions of the organization are able to continue in the event of serious adverse circumstances.

Plan Overview
Saturna Capital Corporation’s Business Continuity Plan (BCP) provides methods and procedures for restoration of mission critical services in the event of a natural or manmade disaster and other emergencies that result in partial or total service interruption of its business. The BCP is maintained at several locations. SCC’s Technical Management & Staff each have an assigned functional role in each of its area’s BCP to ensure full remote assistance, and that all key suppliers, network components, and records are managed and restored.

For brokerage clients, National Financial Services LLC (NFS) is a broker-dealer and member of the NYSE and FINRA and acts as the clearing firm for Saturna Capital. Your assets are maintained with NFS on our behalf. NFS has also developed a plan to ensure that business continues to run uninterrupted during business emergencies.

Saturna Capital’s Business Continuity Plan serves as an important document to ensure proper communications take place, that its network can be restored in the most efficient manner possible, to keep employees and infrastructure safe, and to minimize inconvenience for its customers.

Plan Key Elements
The BCP contains the following sections:

Further Information
It should be noted that SCC maintains 3 power generation sources in the event of a disaster (Holly Plaza Generator/Remote Main/Remote Generator). SCC also has a disciplined Preventative/Routine Maintenance Program that sends mission critical data to a wired, remote site daily. Maintenance Program Compliance records are stored both on and off site and are reviewed by Saturna’s technical staff quarterly. SCC retains all Database Back-Ups/Copies of volatile network elements in duplicate, both on and off site. Vendor Agreements are in place with critical suppliers in the event of a disaster which include technical support procedures to restore SCC customers and services. SCC’s BCP is reviewed quarterly by technical staff and annually by Senior Management to ensure understanding and compliance.
